Origin

A standardized complex of neuropeptides and free amino acids derived from porcine brain tissue, developed in Austria and used clinically in Europe and Asia since the 1970s-80s for stroke, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease.

Mechanism

Modulates inflammatory cytokines, reducing IL-1β and IL-6 while boosting IL-10, enhances neurotrophic signaling, promotes neuroplasticity (dendritic spine density in hippocampus and cortex), and stabilizes the blood-brain barrier.

Evidence

Neuroprotective effects are documented in in-vitro stroke and TBI models, with improved memory and increased hippocampal spine density in animal models. Clinical trials in dementia and vascular cognitive impairment show modest cognitive benefits, particularly post-stroke, mostly from European and Eastern European institutions. No large US FDA-track trials have been completed.
