Nandrolone decanoate is a synthetic anabolic-androgenic steroid. A meta-analysis of seven small randomised trials in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis reported fewer fractures, modest bone density gains, less pain and more muscle mass, at low to moderate certainty. The same analysis found more mild virilising effects such as acne, hirsutism and voice change. A systematic review of nandrolone use and abuse catalogues the side effects reported with illicit use. The trials behind this are small and mostly old.
Benefits reported in the imported source
- Pooled small trials in postmenopausal osteoporosis found fewer fractures, more bone and muscle, less pain.
- The US label states it raises haemoglobin and red cell mass in anaemia of renal insufficiency.
Risks and limits
- Mild virilising effects such as acne, hirsutism and voice change were more common than with placebo.
- The supporting trials are small, mostly old, and rated low to moderate certainty.
- A systematic review catalogues the side effects reported with illicit use.
Source bottom line: Nandrolone cut fractures and raised bone and muscle in small old trials, at the cost of virilising side effects.
Uncertainty: Reference information only. Not medical advice.
Study protocols — reports, not instructions
people with the anaemia of renal insufficiency, per the US label
- Reported regimen
- deep intramuscular injection into the gluteal muscle: 50-100 mg weekly in women, 100-200 mg weekly in men, 25-50 mg every 3-4 weeks in children aged 2-13
- Duration
- ongoing and preferably intermittent, per the label, stopped if there is no improvement in the first six months
- Reported outcome
- The label states nandrolone decanoate has been shown to increase haemoglobin and red cell mass in the anaemia of renal insufficiency.

293 postmenopausal women with osteoporosis across seven randomised placebo-controlled trials
- Reported regimen
- nandrolone decanoate 50 mg intramuscularly every three weeks in all trials but one, which used 50 mg every four weeks
- Duration
- 6 to 24 months of follow-up, most trials 12 months
- Reported outcome
- Fractures fell (RR 0.37), bone density, bone mineral content and muscle mass rose and pain fell; mild virilising adverse events were more common than with placebo.

Unverified imported account — Nandrolone Decanoate: How to Take It Safely and Effectively
An imported authored paraphrase, not a quotation or a recommended protocol.
Review: unverified historical account. The imported wording is preserved for attribution; its full clinical, dosing, efficacy or consensus claims have not been independently established. Unvalidated source account; no validated human dosing population or animal-to-human equivalence is inferred.
Imported wording: Community-reported protocols indicate 200–400 mg per week via intramuscular injection weekly for beginners, with experienced users dosing 300–600 mg per week every 5–7 days over 8–12 week cycles.
Pharmacokinetic context
Historical half-life estimate: 144–288 hours. FDA label, Deca-Durabolin Population/route context and estimates may differ. This is not a schedule or a verified human dosing rule.
